Here is my trip to Galilee and the surrounding areas in Northern Israel!
Day 1: July 15, 2013
A view of Bet She'an, the Philistine city where Saul and Jonathan's bodies were displayed after their deaths.
Me at Bet She'an
The "Jesus Synagogue" in Nazareth, where Christ declared himself the Messiah to his hometown in Luke 4:16-30.
The Nazareth Church of the Annunciation, the biggest church in the Middle East: it had mosaics of Mary donated from many countries. The one from Nazareth was my favorite.
This was a cool statue by the Church, as well. I like that Mary's foot is bruising the head of the serpent.
This is a side view of the Annunciation Church. All the buildings in the picture are a part of the church complex.
This was our first view of the Sea of Galilee, standing on Mt Arbel. We're overlooking the town of Migdal, which is thought to be Mary Magdelene's hometown, and Tiberias, which is on the other side of the mountain and not pictured.
Day 3: July 17, 2013 (Day 2 was a no-trip day, so no pictures)
Boat ride across the Galilee, looking back to En Gev, where we stayed.
Sea of Galilee, looking at Tiberias and Mt Arbel.
The Ginosaur boat- a boat discovered at the bottom of the Sea of Galilee from the 1st century. It may have been Peter's fishing boat.
The Mount of Beatitudes Church
The Beatitudes Church has very beautiful gardens overlooking the Sea of Galilee.
The Church of St Peter's Priamacy, where Jesus found the Apostles fishing after his death. Here he asked Peter 3 times "Do you love me?"
The Church of the Multiplication of the Loaves and the Fishes. It has a nice little church with a courtyard.
The Capernaum Church- some people refer to it as the "flying saucer" church. It's suspended over what is thought to be Peter's house because of the 1st century house/church found there.
Me in front of the Capernaum Church.
The Sea of Galilee at sunset, from En Gev.
Day 4: July 18, 2013
We ate dinner at the Fish Restaurant, which overlooked the Sea.
